Howlett, Bruce &amp; Diane; Atkinson, Burr G<br /><strong>Subject:</strong> HLC Minutes<br /></font><br /></div><div>Good Morning Tonia and Burr</div><div>First of all I wish to thank you for the attractive and well done cerftificate.  When framed, it will compliment my other certificates and awards previously received.</div><div>Secondly, I wish to thank you for the opportunity to speak at last night&#39;s meeting and apologize for rushing through my presentation.  I gather it&#39;s delivery was perceived as somewhat forceful and chastising.  I apologize for that.  I was unaware that the meeting was to close by 7:30 PM.  (see portion of e-mail insert below).</div><p>From: burra@uwo.ca<br />Date: Sun, 29 Mar 2009 12:44:25 -0400<br />Subject: HLC Business - Time Change for the next HLC Directors Meeting</p><div><p class="EC_MsoNormal">Hi Everyone,</p><p class="EC_MsoNormal"><span>            </span>Since an important ‘Tax Levy Increase’ meeting for those in the Township of the Lake of Bays is set for the same time as our HLC meeting on Saturday April 4<sup>th</sup>, Tonia has changed our HLC meeting date <u>to</u> <strong>April 17<sup>th</sup> from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m</strong>. at (as usual) the Robinson Independent Grocer Community Room in Huntsville.</p><p class="EC_MsoNormal">My intentions were to apprise the Council members of a lack of follow-up in past minutes and to have these concerns recorded in the minutes of last night&#39;s meeting along with follow-up.</p><p class="EC_MsoNormal">At your request, I list them here for your information and necessary action.</p></div><div class="EC_MsoNormal">Minutes from September 6, 2008</div><div class="EC_MsoNormal">S. 6 (B) - Navigational hazards on the canal - the Chair asked Peter Van Buskirk and Dan M. to look into this issue and report to the HLC on their findings.</div><div class="EC_MsoNormal">              What did they find?<span class="999405017-28042009"><font size="3" color="#0000ff">  Ongoing discussions were presented at the meetings.  Like other policy issue discussions that occurred at council meetings pre the strategic planning session, we don&#39;t unfortunately have very detailed findings documented on our website.  If we have a representative from penn/fairy I will raise it and request an update and ensure it gets included in the Lake report updates in the next minutes.   The last update I can share is that I sent contact information for the navigable waters protection program- to Peter Van Busikirk  (which he was already in contact with- sept8/08) </font></span></div><div class="EC_MsoNormal">S. 7 (A) - Motioned that the HLC donate $100.00 to the Muskoka Heritage Foundation.  Passed.  Was this done?<span class="999405017-28042009"><font size="3" color="#0000ff">    I will need to confirm with Bruce what was issued. </font></span></div><div class="EC_MsoNormal">Minutes from October 4, 2008</div><div class="EC_MsoNormal">S. 5(C) - Mary M. has provided an excellent update on the &#39;buoys&#39; and Tonia said that she would post that information.  Has this been done?<span class="999405017-28042009"><font size="3" color="#0000ff">  Dwayne is posting three attachments to the minutes for October 4th, 2008 re the buoys and their last known status.  I will update the council this Saturday with this information. </font></span></div><div class="EC_MsoNormal">Minutes from December 5, 2008</div><div class="EC_MsoNormal">S. 8(H) - Pells Lake was put off (again) until February 16th.  It is now mid-April.  What is the status of this application?<span class="999405017-28042009"><font size="3" color="#0000ff">   Burr is keeping an eye on it, as it states in the minutes.  Once updates are available to share I&#39;m sure he&#39;ll let the planning and application review committee know as well update the council at the next lake update roundtable discussion.</font></span></div><div class="EC_MsoNormal">S. 9     - Second para. - motioned that &quot;we donate $200.00 to Muskoka Heritage in Barb Paterson&#39;s name&quot;.  Passed.  What is the status of this motion?   Does Muskoka Heritage refer to &#39;Muskoka Heritage Place - Pioneer Village&quot; in Huntsville or to &quot;Muskoka Heritage Foundation&quot; in Bracebridge?<span class="999405017-28042009"><font size="3" color="#0000ff">   it refers to the foundation in Bracebridge;  I will need to confirm with Bruce what was issued.. </font></span></div><div class="EC_MsoNormal">Minutes from January 31, 2009</div><div class="EC_MsoNormal">S. 9(C) - Buoys: Tonia will present this at our next meeting.  Has something regarding &#39;buoys&#39; been presented?<span class="999405017-28042009"><font size="3" color="#0000ff">   the update was concerns around the buoys stored at Mary&#39;s house as well as the status of the Buoys and responsibility going forward for lakes in Huntsville.  it has not been presented as we always run out of time. </font></span></div><div class="EC_MsoNormal">Suggestion.</div><div class="EC_MsoNormal">On your agenda, prior to &quot;New Business&quot;, add the item, &quot;Old Business&quot;.  Review the business from the past meeting for any updates and/or accomplishments, hopefully eliminating matters that have been overlooked.  Remembering that once approved, these minutes are available to the public.</div><div class="EC_MsoNormal">Past Directors</div><div class="EC_MsoNormal">Last night, you recognized Mary, Elaine and me for our service to the HLC.  I would ask that you consider similarly acknowledging the following -</div><div class="EC_MsoNormal">    Barb Stronach who verbally resigned in August 2008.  Jeanne O&#39;Neill has a BBQ apron on which the HLC logo is embroidered.  It was intended to  be presented to Barb, but was never done. </div><div class="EC_MsoNormal">    Bill Jolley who verbally resigned in August 2008.</div><div class="EC_MsoNormal">    Kim Small who by letter, resigned in September 2008.</div><div class="EC_MsoNormal">Special Request</div><div class="EC_MsoNormal">As founding members and past executive directors of the HLC who are interested in its future and accomplishments, would you please consider including Mary, Elaine and myself in your e-mailing of future agendas and meeting minutes.  We would be pleased to assist the HLC where needed.</div><div class="EC_MsoNormal">Sincerely yours,</div><div class="EC_MsoNormal">Bill Somers. </div><div><p class="EC_MsoNormal">&#160;</p></div>
