Letter to Association Presidents

________Lake Report on Water Levels June 20, 2007 ______ Lake Property Owners: Huntsville Lakes Council has been trying to form a co-operative effort with various lakes in the Huntsville area that have been experiencing problems due to high water levels. Earlier this year, HLC contacted all member lake associations, asking if they wished to be involved in this process. Mary Lake's issues have become public through the press over the past year. District Councillor, George Young also has concerns about the erosion on the Muskoka River in the Brunel Locks region of the river.

Navigation Bouys report

Navigation Buoys report for July 5, 2007 meeting After the HLC meeting with the mayor and affected lakes on May 12th, Rob Laver of Lake Vernon has been working with Pipefusion to come up with our own locally-produced and hence much less expensive navigational buoys. He reports that Pipefusion will prepare, for feasibility testing at no charge, 2 navigation buoys for the HLC. Rob suggests that these be put at the Vernon Narrows bridge and at Camp Kitchen to provide the most exposure - and perhaps feedback from boaters. Any comments?

DRAFT Letter to Dist Chair re Water/Sewer Gord Adams Chair District of Muskoka Dear Mr. Adams: Re: Sewer and Water Debt As you may be aware, the members of the Huntsville Lakes Council are lake associations. As such, most of us are waterfront residents. We are strongly opposed to any downloading of sewer and water costs for a variety of reasons. MPAC figures show a median assessment growth of 45 percent since 2005. A report commissioned by WRAFT/CAPTR from Cushman & Wakefield Lepage compared sales of properties in the last quarter of 2004 with the last quarter of 2007 for Muskoka/Haliburton. District debt is currently at almost $107 million. How to deal with this is a very important issue for all rural, including waterfront, property owners. The Commissioner of Finance and Corporate Services, Stephen Cairns, presented his recommendations in his July 4th document, Debt Reduction Initiative.
